Internship Opportunity at UNICEF – Documentation and Knowledge Management, 6 months, Kathmandu, Nepal (Only for Nepalese Nationals)

For every child, resultIn order to support UNICEF’s COVID-19 Programme Monitoring and Analysis, Social Policy, Evaluationand Evidence (SPEE) Section of UNICEF Nepal Country Office launched a Child and Family Tracker (CFT) Survey on May 2020. CFT isa series of monthly household surveys to track the socio-economic multi-sectoral impact of COVID-19 on children and families in Nepal. With a sample size of 7500 households (42,000 respondents), the survey is nationally and provincially representative. This first survey issue, carried out at the end of May 2020, establishes the baseline for the monthly surveys to be carried out over the coming months. Following this, consecutive four rounds of survey until end September has been carried out. The findings from the survey has provide an import lead and evidence to suggested that families have sustained huge income loss, having implications on the children’s health, nutrition and education at the core to UNCEF programmatic interventions.

How can you make a difference?The purpose of this internship is to document and update information on CFT, produce research papers and help develop knowledge products. The main tasks of internship assignment includes:

  • Document research, studies and surveys being conducted by the section
  • Develop knowledge products by working together with Communication Section colleagues
  • Contribute to advocacy and outreach activities to increase visibility of UNICEF’s work in social protection and evidence
  • Collaborate with youth networks and promote UNICEF work in social protection and evidence
  • Analyse CFT data and produce endline report.

Location:

The intern will Work from Home in direct contact with Social Policy, Evidence and Evaluation (SPEE) Section, UNICEF Country Office.

To qualify as an advocate for every child you will have…Education: Recent graduate preferably with economics, social sciences, business, statistics or mathematics or enrolled in a degree programme*Graduated within the past two years are considered as recent graduate .Work Experience: Relevant work experience in conducting research, data analysis, report/document editing and report writing. Should have excellent academic performance as demonstrated by recent university or institution records.Competencies: Fluency in English, computer literate & familiarity with Microsoft Office software especiallyExcel and PowerPoint. Special skills: Knowledge of Social Policy activities is an added advantage.

Deliverables for the Internship: 

  • Submission of CFT end-line report – By April 2021
  • Submission of Knowledge products on various thematic areas ofUNICEF’s outcome areas – By August 2021
  • Submission of Database of research, studies and surveys. -By August 2021

Duration of the Internship : 

The total duration of the internship will be for six (6) monthsAdditional Conditions:1. The intern is required to use his/her own computer.2. The intern will be paid a monthly stipend as allocated by hiring section, which will be based on the indicateddeliverables and upon the receipt of an invoice.3. The intern acknowledges that UNICEF will accept no responsibility for costs arising from accidents,illness, injury, disability, death, property damage or actions of any kinds which may occur to him/herin the course of internship for this assignment whether on or off UNICEF premises.4. The intern shall obtain his/her own health insurance coverage which includes COVID-19 insurancefor the period of internship and provide the evidence of same to UNICEF.5. Duty travel is not expected for the assignment.6. Internship assignment does not carry any expectancy, legal or otherwise, of employment or any paidopportunities with UNICEF.6. The intern shall keep confidential any and all unpublished information made known to him/her during7. he course of service as an intern and shall not publish any reports or papers on the basis ofinformation obtained during the internship assignment, except with the authorization of UNICEF8. Intern should not have relatives (father, mother, brother or sister) working in any UNICEF office.
