Geriatric Care Center Implementation Guidelines | MoHP Geriatrics or geriatric medicine is a sub- specialty of internal medicine and family medicine that focuses on health care of elderly people. MoHP has endorsed the guidelines for Geriatric Care Center Implementation.

The General principle for Geriatrics care includes

Consider individuality. Consult his preferences.
Be patient, kind and sympathetic. Communicate effectively, demonstrate respect.
Encourage independence and encourage him to make his choices and decisions.
Assist elderly to achieve emotional stability.
Stimulate mental acuity and sensory input and physical activity to uplift their self esteem, self concept and confidence.
Make elderly stay in home interesting and lively
Provide diversion /occupational therapy.
Maintain privacy
Handle them gently.
Make them comfortable by providing comfortable bed, bed linen etc. keep bed dry, smooth and unwrinkled.
Encourage them to maintain body hygiene, thus regulate body temperature.
Assist them to take care of visual, auditory and dental aid.
Protect from injuries, falls and accidents etc.
Ensure adequate nutrition.
Facilitate elimination. Encourage them to maintain external genitalia hygiene
Encourage them to do active range of motion exercises. Maintain body alignment and posture. Encourage mobility.
Help elderly to establish good sleep patterns.
Caution elderly about the use of drugs.
. Have them physically examined annually and whenever needed.
Observe any psychophysical changes which alter their body image and behaviour.

जेरियाट्रिक केयर सेन्टरको कुल निर्माण क्षेत्रफल, प्रति शैया ५५ वर्ग मिटरका दरले हुनु पर्नेछ।
उक्त क्षेत्र भित्र सोधपुछ, दर्ता कक्ष, प्रतिक्षालय, प्रवेशद्वार सहितको हलको क्षेत्र समावेश भएको हुनु
पर्नेछ। सो बाहेक भान्सा घर, लुगा घुने ठाउ, जेनेरेटर कक्ष, भण्डार कक्ष, मर्मत संभार कक्ष र जेष्ठ
नागरिकलाई फूलबारी समेतको ब्यवस्था गरेको हुनु पर्दछ ।

प्रतिक्षालयमा बिरामीको चापको अनुपातमा पर्याप्त र सुविधाजनक फर्निचर, शौचालय, खानेपानी र
(टेलिभिजन, सूचना-पाटी, पत्रपत्रिका लगायत ईन्टरनेटको ब्यवस्था गरेको हुनु पर्नेछ।

पर्नेछ।

ब्हिलचेयर, ट्रलि, स्टेचरको पर्याप्त मात्रामा व्यवस्था हुनु पर्ने र यस्ता सामग्री राख्ने ठाउँ र चलाउन
