Center for Research on Environment Health and Population Activities (CREHPA) is a not-for-profit non-governmental research organization based at Kathmandu, Nepal. It is registered under Society’s Act 2034, with the Government of Nepal and the Social Welfare Council (SWC), Nepal. For the past 26 years, CREHPA has been conducting research in the field of sexual and reproductive health and rights and other areas.

In collaboration with Palladium, CREHPA is undertaking a study to understand men’s perspectives on relationships and family life in Nepal. For this study, CREHPA is looking for vibrant personalities who desire to work as field supervisor and research assistant and have skills in conducting quantitative and qualitative interviews.

Description

Major responsibilities of Field Supervisors (Quantitative researcher) will be to: 

  • Attend intensive orientation training in Kathmandu. 
  • Co-ordinate and liaise with local level government and non-governmental authorities in selected districts and municipalities.
  • Lead and supervise a team of research assistants throughout the data collection period.
  • Conduct face-to-face data collection using tablet/mobile phones
  • Maintain data security and confidentiality measures as instructed and submit the data to the Research Officer or other assigned person (such as
  • Data Manager of CREHPA) as instructed.
  • Maintain regular coordination and communication with core Study Team members.
  • Attend de-briefing meeting in Kathmandu
  • Prepare a field report

Major responsibilities of Senior Research Assistants (Qualitative researcher) will be to: 

  • Attend intensive orientation training in Kathmandu. 
  • Co-ordinate and liaise with local level government and non-governmental authorities in selected districts and municipalities.
  • Conduct in-depth interviews, focus group discussion and transcribe them
  • Maintain data security and confidentiality as instructed.
  • Maintain regular coordination and communication with core Study Team members and field researchers.
  • Attend de-briefing meeting in Kathmandu
  • Prepare a field report

Minimum qualification

Bachelor’s Degree in Social Science, subject preferred in sociology and anthropology, Public Health, Health education, Population Studies or other research related disciplines

  • Male
  • Nepali Citizen 
  • Prior work experience in the similar research (gender and sexuality, sexual and reproductive health and rights etc.) in similar settings and prior experiences of conducting interviews will be an asset. 
  • Prior working experiences with CREHPA will be an additional advantage.  
  • Reasonably good understanding of English, Nepali and local languages of the study districts
  • Familiar with technology such as using tablets and smart mobile application 
  • Flexible in working hours
  • Flexible for travelling to the rural/urban areas of any assigned districts
  • Capacity to work in a team and willingness to work in field setting
  • Good personality and communication skills
  • Prior experience of conducting qualitative interviews including focus group discussions (for Senior Research Assistant only)
