IOM is dedicated to promoting humane and orderly migration for the benefit of all. It does so by providing services and advice to governments and migrants.

Context:

Project context and Scope

The project entitled “Effective case management by strengthening Isolation centers and Ground Crossing Points (GCPs) management for Rapid Response and Preparedness against COVID-19” intends to implement a two fold COVID-19 response to address the gaps and needs identified through the assessment. With a major focus on the migrants crossing the borders and priority to population facing additional vulnerabilities including women, children, elderly and persons with disabilities, the project aims to strengthen the capacities of six GCPs and isolation centers through supporting the Governments of Province 1, 2, Lumbini and Sudurpaschim. Coupled with the physical risk of COVID-19, it is identified that the migrants carry multiple psychological stress and vulnerabilities. As such, the project envisages to support the Government in their ongoing interventions at the targeted areas with the provision of health response support, strengthened WASH capacity and ensuring the protection (including psychosocial first aid) of the migrants to further capacitate the government response for combating COVID-19.  Moreover, Displacement Tracking Matrix (DTM) will be implemented for flow monitoring including at informal GCPs, which would be instrumental in attaining readily available COVID-19 and other humanitarian needs information for better-targeted, multi-sectoral assistance to at-risk populations in need.

Core functions / Responsibilities:

Tasks to be performed under this contract

  1. Ensure the implementation of DTM related activities of the project activities such as (but not limited to) DTM flow monitoring. 
  2. Monitor the activities, track progress and ensure the activities are implemented in line with the workplan. 
  3. Ensure production of provincial DTM data outputs and quarterly DTM reports in close coordination with the project team and Regional DTM RTS.
  4. Support in maintaining organized databases and narrative reports of all information collected under the DTM activities and ensure the latest information and reports are also updated in IOM Nepal DTM website: Nepal | DTM (iom.int)
  5. Undertake duty travels as required. 
  6. Perform other duties as may be assigned by the supervisor.

Performance indicators for the evaluation of results:

  • Quarterly DTM reports, datasets, maps and interactive dashboards developed.
  • Detailed reports developed.
  • Report dissemination meetings and meeting records.

Required Qualifications and Experience

Education

  • Bachelor’s degree in Migration Studies, Demography, Political or Social Science, International Relations or a related field from an accredited academic institution with two years of relevant professional experience.

Experience/Skills

  • Experience in coordination and implementation of data collection in emergency context on displacement and/or human mobility; Experience in survey and questionnaire design and implementation and probabilistic sampling is an advantage;
  • Research experience in the field of population studies, human mobility, mixed migration, and IDPs, including field experience related to displacement and migration research is an advantage.
  • Experience in data analytics and use of GIS tools

Languages

  • English and Nepali is required. Working knowledge of any other local language is an advantage.
