Field Program Officer | ngo jobs 2024:Mountain Organization Nepal (MOON), Ilam, formerly known as Shree High Altitude Herbal Production and Conservation Institute (SHAHPCI) was established on August 29, 2002 (भाद्र १३, २०५९) and was registered in Social Welfare Council in November 30, 2005 (मंसिर १५, २०६२). The main office of the organization is in Sandakpur – 3, Ilam while the project office is in Ilam – 7, Ilam. The organization has worked with The Mountain Institute (TMI), Kathmandu in the program titled “Mountain Area Conservation and Livelihood Program” since 2004 and from 2012, it has worked as one of the implementation partner organizations to Red Panda Network (RPN) in Eastern Nepal, of the program titled “Community-based Red Panda Monitoring in Eastern Nepal”. The organization has been working in five Rural Municipalities of Ilam district viz., Sandakpur RM, Deumai RM, Maijogmai RM, and Suryodaya and Ilam Municipalities.

Other Specification
  • Completed minimum Bachelor’s degree in Forestry/Environmental Science/Zoology/Botany with at least one year experience or Diploma in Forestry/I.Sc. (Biology) with three years of relevant work experience.
  • Good Skill and knowledge of filing, recording keeping, account keeping, reporting, and basic documentation.
  • Good verbal and written communication in Nepali and English.
  • Good in handling MS Office packages (Ms. Word, Excel, PowerPoint), and email Google Workspace.
  • Skillful in searching for information on the internet, operating social media, and making news, blogs, and activity reports when needed.
  • Strong communication, coordination, and team-building skills.
  • Having experience or interest in working in the community level and conservation sector.
  • Good knowledge and skill in data and information collection, documentation, and presentation with the appropriate format.
  • Ability to work in a team and frequently travel and work in remote areas and adverse field conditions for multiple months.
  • Able to generate project ideas from the learnings in the field.
  • Basic knowledge of using ArcGIS or QGIS will be an added advantage.

Note: Priority will be given to candidates with prior experience in field-based projects.


Duties and Responsibilities

  • Implement activities in the field and coordinate with the relevant stakeholders for its effective implementation according to the work plan.
  • Produce annual and periodic reports for the projects and submit them to the relevant agencies (such as admin, board, partners, government agencies, etc.).
  • Track and report issues and challenges faced during program implementation.
  • Coordinate and communicate with relevant government offices (Division Forest Office, District Coordination Committee, Community Forest User Groups, local councils, etc.), local representatives, and/or the program staff as appropriate, to maintain relationships and collaboration to implement programs.
  • Timely submission of reports, minutes, photographs, field notes, and data after the completion of each activity.
  • Preparation of reports on outputs and outcomes, drafting letters, presentations, work plans, and strategies as required.
  • Collect reports, evidence, data, stories, news, and case studies related to the project implementation, its progress, and results.
  • Monitor the project activities and ensure timely completion and follow-ups.
  • Attend workshops and field visits as per requirements.
  • Great organizational and time management skills.
