“Hepatitis can’t wait” | Karishma Bhandari: Hepatitis in medical term refers to the inflammation of liver . Hepatitis has type A,B,C,D and E according to etiology.Observing the world data ,more than one million deaths each year by viral hepatitis is recorded .Hepatitis B(caused by hepadna virus)is fairly common. If we randomly ask people whether HIV or Hepatitis is spreading more worldwidely  then what do you think the majority of people will answer? They might think HIV as it is more concernedly talked about .But the fact is that infected people from HIV is 40 million whereas from Hepatitis B it is 250 million.Isnt this the breathtaking news? Hepatitis A incidence rate has increased by 140 percentage from 2011 to 2017.South america ,Africa and most of the Asia have high prevalence rate of it. 40 million people are infected with Hepatitis C.This is a challenging and greatest threat to public health.

Florida health officials has already declared Hepatitis A as a emergency which is transmitted through faeco-oral route. In the context of Nepal Hepatitis A is preety common on children and are at the greater risk .Day care kids don’t wash hands ,they poop all over themselves and if they have disease they transmit to all other children so easily and quickly.

Due to lack of standard of sanitation and hygiene , homelessness, poverty , Illetracy has caused the disease to increase boundlessly.

Baby boomers have high chance of transmitting Hepatitis B and C.Health workers ,medical personnel are at the greater risk and are getting  affected in larger numbers.Hepatitis C and drug abuse often go hand to hand but screening for infection lags.Different medicines which are supplied illegally with no FDA registration are causing liver injury. But these factors are not getting examined and such drugs  are helping to cause hepatitis. So the factors that are influencing to cause this disease should be checked out and sorted out as quickly as possible .

Centre for Disease Control has collaborates with international partners. Serosurvey is conducted in Georgia for prevention and elimination of hepatitis B and C and also has supported to Pakistan , Uzbekistan, Tanzania.Global Immunization Strategic Framework 2021-2030 is released .It  has provided roadmap to achieving program towards a world where everyone is protected from VPD.Though we are celebrating every 28 th July as world hepatitis Day and are advocating to people  the number of cases has been increased and our celebrations has gone to bupkus. Its a great public health threat. The programs ,plans and intervention needs to be stronger enough to cope with emerging Hepatitis . Universal childhood vaccination should be launched.Supportive care should be given for non vaccine preventable hepatitis and awareness is the must. Its a time to rethink because hepatitis can’t wait and if it gets going increased like this then we may be also diseased later or sooner. We have to ask question to ourselves if we anybody want to get diseased and suffer?Do we want to see world suffering ? Obviously not.We all want healthy living .We all want to be completely free from Hepatitis and yes for this ,It’s urgent to take necessary actions immediately without no delay.
