Marking the first year of the Cervical Cancer Elimination movement : On 17 November 2021, we will mark the first anniversary of a historic movement, celebrating the first time the world has committed to eliminate a cancer. On that day last year, WHO launched Global strategy to accelerate the elimination of cervical cancer as a public health problem, with a resolution passed by 194 countries. Countries and communities around the world marked this movement with a day of action and the launch of local campaigns. Advocates and survivors played leading roles and shared their stories. They were joined by high-level speakers, representing a broad coalition of partners dedicated to eliminating cervical cancer, and four-time Grammy Award-winning artist Angélique Kidjo. Communities across the globe illuminated the cause, lighting over 100 landmarks in the color teal, the color for cervical cancer elimination ( Source : WHO)

The activities continue on 18 November with a Cervical Cancer Elimination Technical Session

Following the Cervical Cancer Elimination Day of Action and livestream broadcast, join us for a webinar bringing together experts from  WHO, UN Agencies, and partner organizations. The technical session will offer a glimpse of new guidance and resources for cervical cancer elimination and share how partners are continuing to support advancements toward the 90-70-90 targets.
