Program Officer | NDI | ngo jobs NDI-Nepal is seeking candidates for the position of Program Officer/Senior Program Officer for Political Parties, to support the Institute’s political party capacity building program. The Program Officer/Senior Program Officer supports activities aimed at building the skills, capacity and knowledge of political parties to become more inclusive, representative, accountable and better performing public institutions. The Institute’s work includes knowledge and resource sharing and trainings, and aims to expand the participation of marginalized groups including: women, youth and minorities. NDI’s assistance reaches across party organizations, from grassroots party members to mid-level party officials and senior party leaders. The Program Officer/Senior Program Officer position reports to the Resident Program Director. The position is based in Kathmandu, but requires frequent travel to different parts of the country.

Academic Qualifications and Experience:
- Bachelor’s degree in International Relations, Political Science, International Development or related field, Master’s preferred;
- Experience in sub-grant management with local CSOs;
- Relevant four years’ experience working with political parties/international organizations and/or working on democracy building, elections, civic activism and community organizing;
- Experience in management, development and program implementation.

- Strong interpersonal skills and cultural sensitivity to interact effectively with a broad range of internal and external stakeholders;
- Excellent communications skills in Nepali and English to engage others, present information and respond to questions; and produce clear and concise written work
- Capacity to work both independently and as a member of a team;
- Willingness to work longer hours, when required;
- Strong working knowledge of PC-based word processing and spreadsheet applications and experience with Google Apps (Gmail, Calendar, Google Drive, G+, etc.);
- Ability and willingness to travel to remote and difficult to reach locations;
- Gather, understand, analyze and report on the political environment;
- Identify and introduce concepts and proposals for programmatic intervention;
- Excellent English and Nepali speaking, writing and translation skills are required;
- Strong familiarity with presenting ideas in front of others;
- Experience in managing events; tackling operational challenges in a structured manner.
Job Description
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Contributes to program implementation and evaluation; manage daily operations under the day-today supervision of the Political Program Director;
- Assists in designing and organizing training activities;
- Cooperates with program staff in drafting and editing memos, reports, including the editing of reports submitted by partner organizations;
- Serves as a program point of contact, maintains relations with partners and stakeholders, represents the program at appropriate program activities;
- Maintains cooperative working relations within the NDI Nepal and DC offices;
- Coordinates with Administrative/Finance team in reviewing budgets and expenditures;
- Travels as necessary to monitor program implementation;
- Works with the Monitoring and Evaluation Specialist in collecting data and measuring program impact;
- Participate in regular activities and meetings with program partners and stakeholders;
- Analysis of national political developments;
- Maintains strict neutrality in dealing with program activities;
- Sets up senior level meetings for senior staff with relevant local interlocutors;
- Performs other assignments as and when necessary, as assigned by senior staff.
