Everest Club (EC) Dailekh, is a nonprofit organization that works in Dailekh District. Everest Club (EC) was established in 1993, and its headquarters is in the Dailekh District of Nepal. Everest Club (EC) was established by local youths with the aim to “create civilized and self-reliance Society”. Everest Club (EC) Dailekh implements programs in a range of sectors, including cultural and social service providers, especially the development of health, education, sanitation, agriculture promotion, WASH promotion, natural economy, social empowerment, disaster risk reduction, and climate change adaption, etc. The Early Start project will adopt an integrated approach providing early stimulation and responsive care for 0-3 year children’s social, emotional, and cognitive development. It will promote children’s early development via stimulating and responsive environments that provide early learning opportunities, offer protection from adversities and violence, and fulfil health and nutritional needs. These will all contribute to the ‘Survive’, ‘Learn’, and ‘Be Protected’ breakthroughs by adopting components of Nourishing the Youngest, Saving Newborn Lives, Building Brains, Parenting without Violence and Public Investment in Children common approaches. The project has three key areas of intervention: improving access and utilization of quality health and nutrition services for young children, improving competencies of caregivers, and improving capacities of local and provincial governments as well as of civil society organizations to support to ensure well-being of younger children. It will offer specific support to parents/caregivers as the child’s first and main reference persons, empower civil society networks, and thereby build on existing government mechanisms to reach out to parents and their youngest children. This project will offer mental health and psychosocial support, as one of the key interventions, to the parents and caregivers through the certified psychosocial counselor, as many of the families have reported the need of, as the level of stress has heightened due to COVID.
