Every year World Asthma Day is celebrated on the first Tuesday of May. This year World Asthma Day 2022 is celebrated with the theme of Closing Gaps in Asthma Care. Although asthma cannot be cured, it is possible to manage asthma to reduce and prevent asthma attacks, also called episodes or exacerbations. There are a number of gaps in asthma care which require intervention in order to reduce preventable suffering as well as the costs incurred by treating uncontrolled asthma.
With same motto of fulfilling gaps through different health awareness and health promotional activities, Nymat Nepal and Ideas for LA Grandee in collaboration with OM Hospital had conducted different awareness programs in presence of Assistant Professor Dr. CP Acharya, Nymat Nepal’s President Sadikshya Sapkota, Ideas for LA Grandee’s president Jeeven Bhandari, Cipla representative Om Raj Dhakal and Glenmark representative Pramit Adhikari. More than 70 health science undergraduates from LA Grandee International College, Manipal College of Health Science, School of Health and Allied Science Pokhara University, Charak Academy of Health Science and Kantipur Institute of Health Sciences had actively participated in the program.

More than a thousand of people got benefited directly and indirectly through above programs. General public were so happy to have PFT test of lungs free of cost. The challenge posed by this year’s theme is to work together with colleagues, patients and health care providers to identify and close the gaps in asthma care and to help implement and share innovative solutions locally and globally. Hence, this conducted health awareness and promotion programs had gathered and engaged youth, health care providers, health science colleagues, concerned stakeholders to create awareness about asthma prevention and care fulfilling the gaps.
